Telehealth Therapist
in the Florida Keys
Monroe County stretches from Key Largo through the Middle Keys to Key West . a chain of islands where mental health resources are genuinely sparse. This Florida-statewide telehealth practice serves Keys residents via secure video, with none of the drive that a mainland office would require. I'm June Pittman, MS, LMHC.
Who I see here
Therapy for
Florida Keys residents
The Keys have one hospital, one community mental health center, and roughly one long two-lane road connecting the island chain. That is not much clinical infrastructure for the ~80,000 people who live here year-round. Telehealth changes the math. Sessions are 60 minutes on HIPAA-compliant video from Key West, Marathon, Islamorada, or Key Largo. Same practice, same schedule, no US-1 drive.
How telehealth works from Florida Keys
Secure video,
from your space
For Keys residents, the useful thing telehealth changes is availability. There simply are not many licensed mental health clinicians based in Monroe County, and appointments with the ones who are here often have long waits. A statewide telehealth practice with evening availability is often a faster way to get to the first session, and to the fifth. What to expect in the first session →

About the area
A note on
Florida Keys
Living in the Keys means living somewhere that most Florida conversations skip over. The clinical infrastructure gap is real, and so are the ways islanders describe wanting to keep therapy private in a small community. Video sessions from home protect that in a way an on-island office visit sometimes cannot.

Local & crisis resources
If you or someone you know is in crisis, call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (24/7, Florida-wide). For emergencies, call 911.

Urgent HelpA note on fit
Fit matters more
than convenience
The Keys' primary local resource is Guidance/Care Center, the Monroe County community mental health provider, which is worth knowing about for both crisis and lower-cost care. This practice can complement that rather than replace it. Fit matters more than convenience.
Common questions
Frequently asked
about Florida Keys
How does telehealth work when I live in the Florida Keys?
60-minute sessions on a HIPAA-compliant video platform, straight from your home in Key West, Marathon, Islamorada, or Key Largo. No US-1 drive, no ferry, no waitlist. A stable internet connection is all you need.
Why is telehealth especially useful for Monroe County residents?
Clinical mental health resources in the Keys are genuinely sparse. Monroe County has one hospital and a small number of licensed clinicians in local practice, and appointments often have long waits. A statewide telehealth practice is often a faster path to a first session, and to a fifth.
Do you accept insurance for Florida Keys clients?
Yes, I am in-network with Aetna, Ascension SmartHealth, Carelon Behavioral Health, Cigna, and Florida Blue. Superbill available for out-of-network reimbursement, sliding scale for self-pay.
How does privacy work in a small island community?
Sessions happen inside your own home, on your own device. There is no shared waiting room, no local reception desk, no chance of running into a neighbor on the way in or out. For islanders who value privacy in a tight community, video sessions preserve that in a way an on-island office visit sometimes cannot.
How do I book a first session?
Book a free 15-minute consultation through the booking page. It runs on secure video, no forms and no commitment for the intro call. If we are a fit after that, we schedule the first full 60-minute session and I send you the paperwork through SimplePractice.
Is telehealth therapy as effective as in-person?
Yes, for most people. A large body of research shows that video-based therapy produces outcomes comparable to in-person for anxiety, depression, PTSD, and grief work. As an LMHC I do not prescribe medication, so if a session ever surfaces something that would need medication support, I coordinate a referral to a psychiatrist or PCP.
