Serving Florida · Serving Tampa Bay

Telehealth Therapist
in Tampa

Tampa Bay has one of Florida's largest active-duty and veteran populations, anchored by MacDill Air Force Base and the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital. This practice welcomes service members, veterans, and military family members via secure video telehealth. I'm June Pittman, MS, LMHC, a Cognitive Processing Therapy-trained clinician with Military Cultural Competence Tier 1 certification.

Who I see here

Therapy for
Tampa residents

Telehealth is well-suited to service members and veterans whose schedules, deployments, and privacy needs make in-person therapy logistically hard. Sessions are 60 minutes on HIPAA-compliant video. SouthShore, Brandon, Riverview, Wesley Chapel, Carrollwood, downtown Tampa . the same care is available whichever side of the bay you live on.

How telehealth works from Tampa

Secure video,
from your space

For Tampa Bay residents, telehealth is often the more private option. Sessions happen inside your own space, on your own device, with no shared waiting room. That matters for active-duty personnel considering care, and for veterans whose relationship with clinical settings is already complicated. Sessions are held on a HIPAA-compliant video platform. About the area

A note on
Tampa

The military-connected life in Tampa Bay is layered differently than the surrounding civilian one. Deployment cycles, permanent-change-of-station moves, and the transition out of uniform are not abstract topics . they are the ordinary shape of the year for many families in this area. That shapes how sessions can run, and how much of the work is about pacing.

Popular Tampa neighborhoods and zip codes: Downtown Tampa, Hyde Park, Westshore, South Tampa, New Tampa, Brandon, Riverview, SouthShore, Wesley Chapel, Carrollwood, MacDill AFB area. Common zips: 33602, 33606, 33607, 33609, 33611, 33612, 33621, 33629, 33637, 33647.

Not on the list? Sessions are Florida-wide via secure video, so any address in the state works.

Urgent Help

A note on fit

Fit matters more
than convenience

For active-duty service members, VA-connected care through the James A. Haley VA remains an important primary option. This practice can complement that care rather than replace it, and coordination is possible if you request it. Crisis Center of Tampa Bay's 211 line is the go-to for immediate local resources.

Common questions

Frequently asked
about Tampa

How does telehealth therapy work for Tampa Bay clients?

60-minute sessions on a HIPAA-compliant video platform, from any location on either side of the bay. Browser link, works on phone, tablet, or laptop. No shared waiting room.

Do you work with active-duty service members and veterans at MacDill and James A. Haley VA?

Yes. I'm trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy for combat-related trauma, reintegration stress, and secondary trauma for spouses and families. I hold Military Cultural Competence Tier 1 certification, so care is culturally informed for service members and military-connected families in Tampa Bay.

Do you accept insurance for Tampa Bay clients?

Yes, I am in-network with Aetna, Ascension SmartHealth, Carelon Behavioral Health, Cigna, and Florida Blue. TRICARE credentialing is being updated for the new practice location; a superbill supports reimbursement through Health Net Federal Services in the meantime.

Is my care through the VA affected if I also see you?

No. Seeing a private practice clinician does not affect VA-connected care. My practice can complement VA care rather than replace it, and coordination with your VA provider is possible if you request it. This is a common route when VA availability is constrained by schedule or waitlist.

How do I book a first session?

Book a free 15-minute consultation through the booking page. It runs on secure video, no forms and no commitment for the intro call. If we are a fit after that, we schedule the first full 60-minute session and I send you the paperwork through SimplePractice.

Is telehealth therapy as effective as in-person?

Yes, for most people. A large body of research shows that video-based therapy produces outcomes comparable to in-person for anxiety, depression, PTSD, and grief work. As an LMHC I do not prescribe medication, so if a session ever surfaces something that would need medication support, I coordinate a referral to a psychiatrist or PCP.

Ready to talk?
