Serving Florida · Big Bend & Panhandle

Telehealth Therapist
in Tallahassee

Tallahassee is Florida's capital and the anchor of the Big Bend region: a mix of state government, higher education (FSU, FAMU, TCC), and the surrounding rural counties. This Florida-statewide telehealth practice serves Leon County and the Big Bend via secure video sessions. I'm June Pittman, MS, LMHC.

Who I see here

Therapy for
Tallahassee residents

In Tallahassee, the winter legislative session, semester cycles, and hurricane-season anxiety all show up on a predictable annual calendar. Weekly therapy over video builds a steady thread through those cycles. Sessions are 60 minutes on HIPAA-compliant video. Midtown, Killearn, Bradfordville, SouthWood, and the surrounding Big Bend towns . one practice, no drive.

How telehealth works from Tallahassee

Secure video,
from your space

For Tallahassee-area residents, telehealth changes what is possible during the sessions that matter most. Legislative session weeks, midterms, storm-prep cycles . none of those are times a person can easily add a 45-minute round trip. A 60-minute video session held during a real work week is worth more than a paused month. What to expect in the first session →

Anxiety, burnout, and overwork in government and academic careers

Graduate-student, faculty, and staff stress at FSU/FAMU/TCC

About the area

A note on
Tallahassee

Tallahassee is not a peninsula-Florida city . the Big Bend has its own climate, its own culture, and its own economy tied to the capitol and the universities. People from Leon and the surrounding counties often describe feeling in-between: too rural for a peninsula frame, too urban for a Panhandle one. That between-ness comes up in session.

Popular Tallahassee neighborhoods and zip codes: Midtown, Killearn Estates, Bradfordville, SouthWood, Betton Hills, Lafayette Park, and the FSU / FAMU / TCC campus areas, with greater Leon and Wakulla Counties. Common zips: 32301, 32303, 32304, 32306, 32308, 32309, 32310, 32311, 32312.

Not on the list? Sessions are Florida-wide via secure video, so any address in the state works.

A note on fit

Fit matters more
than convenience

The Big Bend has strong community resources, including Apalachee Center for behavioral healthcare and Big Bend 2-1-1 for local navigation. This practice is one option among many. Fit matters more than convenience; if I am not the right therapist, I will say so.

Common questions

Frequently asked
about Tallahassee

How does telehealth work for Tallahassee and Big Bend clients?

60-minute sessions on a HIPAA-compliant video platform, from any address in Leon County or the surrounding Big Bend. Browser link, no installs, works from home or between meetings at the Capitol.

Do you work with FSU, FAMU, and TCC graduate students, faculty, or staff?

Yes. Graduate students, faculty, and administrative staff at any of the three main campuses are welcome. Sessions can flex around semester rhythms, defense weeks, and academic-calendar changes.

Do you work with state government employees dealing with legislative-session stress?

Yes. Session-week stress, election-cycle transitions, and long-hour policy roles are the kind of work CBT-based therapy fits well. State employees and legislative staff are welcome.

Do you accept insurance for Tallahassee area clients?

Yes, I am in-network with Aetna, Ascension SmartHealth, Carelon Behavioral Health, Cigna, and Florida Blue . a helpful fit for state employees on Florida Blue plans. Sliding scale available for self-pay.

How do I book a first session?

Book a free 15-minute consultation through the booking page. It runs on secure video, no forms and no commitment for the intro call. If we are a fit after that, we schedule the first full 60-minute session and I send you the paperwork through SimplePractice.

Is telehealth therapy as effective as in-person?

Yes, for most people. A large body of research shows that video-based therapy produces outcomes comparable to in-person for anxiety, depression, PTSD, and grief work. As an LMHC I do not prescribe medication, so if a session ever surfaces something that would need medication support, I coordinate a referral to a psychiatrist or PCP.

Ready to talk?
Start with a free consult.
